The Côte d'Azur is a market that has been popular with international buyers for well over a hundred years. It is also a market fraught with pitfalls for those unprepared. There are scores of estate agents and thousands of properties. For those not familiar with its intricacies, the French legal and planning system can lead to expensive mistakes.
We principally advise buyers in three major areas of the Côte d’Azur: east of Nice, west of Nice and St Tropez. East of Nice the landscape is dominated by steep hills with properties enjoying panoramic views of the coast and sea. Close to the water, values have become extremely high. West of Nice, waterside properties are again the most valuable, although some buyers will prefer the relative tranquillity of the charming villages and countryside behind Cannes and Antibes. The St Tropez peninsula is, for many, the essence of the South of France. The area is less built up than the eastern end of the coast and has retained a more rustic, rural charm with vines, parasol pines and long sandy beaches.
