Two Wheels Good – Four Wheels Bad

Where are you Boris?
Maybe only he can sort out the complete mess that both the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea have made of their motorcycle parking rules. You would have thought that two wheels were part of the solution, not the problem, in dealing with London traffic – but it would appear not in the eyes of the council operatives.
Westminster decided that they would charge for all bike parking and promised, as a quid-pro-quo, hundreds more bike parking bays. So far there is charging but no sight of more bays – and they stopped the use of ordinary meter bays for bike use. So now, if the bays are full, you are completely stuffed. RBKC went down a different route and took half of their existing bike bays and made them resident only. The result? Dozens of nearly empty resident’s bays and the reduced rump of communal bays always full.
Come on Boris – bang their heads together!
