Tales from the Front Line

Guess this was not the only one - but I've just heard of an exchange being rushed through last night ahead of the CGT midnight deadline. I am guessing the potential 10% tax saving is more than the extra solicitors costs for burning the midnight oil!

We have been working with some potential clients over the last few months who have been planning to relocate back to the UK with their family after working and living in Europe for the last 10 years.

They have just told me that they are putting their plans to come back to the UK completely on hold until they know the outcome of the General Election.

Whilst I do not know their political affiliations I can only guess at the direction the Election needs to go in to persuade them to give England another chance . . . . . . . . . . . . !

extramile.jpgIn the pursuit of the perfect property the Ascot team spend much of their time on the road scouring their respective areas for that elusive dream home for our clients. Whilst we offer seamless narration of the Home Counties property market to each client, like any successful production, it is the work backstage that is making the real difference.

In order for the Ascot team to play their parts as the calm and considered Executives that they are, they must do their research. In the month of June, this research included the team driving the equivalent of 96 continuous trips around the M25 and viewing £171 million worth of new property in 10 counties. Of the £171m worth of properties that we have looked at, despite the gushing descriptions of fabulous views, beautiful settings, superior design and other hyperbole, less than 15% would be good enough for our clients. What the efforts of the Ascot team show is that despite the volume of property appearing on the residential market, many are flawed.
